Job Description:
The Minnesota Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (MAND) is
seeking a part-time Independent Contractor to serve as its
Executive Director. MAND is an affiliate of the Academy of
Nutrition and Dietetics, a national organization, and represents
the nutrition and dietetics experts of Minnesota. The organization
advocates for, supports, educates, and connects current and
aspiring nutrition professionals to advance the profession. MAND
membership is approximately 1,000 Registered
Dietitians/Nutritionists, Dietetic Techs, students, interns, and
retired professionals.The Executive Director acts as the corporate
officer of MAND and the MAND Foundation. S/he ensures that MAND is
meeting its strategic objectives and oversees the day-to-day
operations.KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Customer (member) service: responding to email requests quickly
and getting back to members/board/leaders.
- Keeping the MAND website updated (WordPress), fixing broken
links as necessary, jobline postings, etc.
- Creating posts and events in the website and cross-marketing
through the e-newsletter (MailChimp), creating social media assets
(Canva), and scheduling across social media channels (Later).
- Organizing, coordinating, and planning the MAND Annual
Conference: Theme, speakers, venue, registration,
sponsors/exhibitors, caterer and menu, promotional assets, printed
items, day of.
- Reconciliation of QB accounts and maintaining accurate
separation of US Bank Money Market account for MAND and MANDF
(co-mingled).
- Managing transfers of funds between MAND and MANDF.
- Preparation for onboarding of new board members/leaders: job
descriptions; at-a-glance document, Nuts & Bolts training,
Leadership Transition meeting, etc.
- MANDF promotion: GTTM Day, Annual Conference raffle,
scholarships.
- Monthly reminders to BOD regarding Communication Requests and
other updates from the ED.
- Preparation prior to BOD meetings: previous meeting minutes;
Board Reports, PPT slide deck.IMPORTANT SKILLS:
- Customer service.
- Multi-tasker - managing multiple priorities on a weekly
basis.
- Thorough understanding of web-based tools that MAND uses:
MailChimp, Canva, Later, QuickBooks, WordPress, Microsoft Office
products, Google Suite products, AND database, CDR CPEU guidelines,
Bonfire (merch sales).
- Cultural Competency.
- Event planning and management (MAND Nutrition Professionals
CONNECT, educational events, January BOD meeting, Annual
Conference, FNCE Happy Hour, other meetings).
- Using creativity while maintaining MAND brand standards for
content creation.AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Works closely with the President of MAND and MANDF Chair.
- Provides operational and administrative support for MAND and
MANDF.
- Serves as an ex-officio (non-voting) member of the Boards and
committees.
- Ensures that organizations are compliant with all state and
federal laws.
- Maintains the organization's focus on diversity, inclusion,
equity, and belonging.
- Drafts initial budget for Board approval and manages
organization's resources within those budget guidelines.
- Produces and reviews regular financial statements and makes
appropriate recommendations to ensure financial well-being.
- Ensures that the programs, products, and services are presented
and delivered consistent with the mission and values of MAND and
MANDF.
- Ensures that the Board, committees, and members have sufficient
and up-to-date information, including information for board
meetings.
- Monitors all committee activity, attends and advises as
needed.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with various
organizations throughout the state and utilizes those relationships
to enhance MAND's and MANDF's mission.
- Oversees relationships and contracts with vendors.
- Supports Regions with their communication and event planning
needs.
- Maintains the website content; produces and schedules assets
for social media; prepares and delivers monthly newsletters and
other action alerts/e-blasts.
- Prepares, signs, and mails checks; makes deposits for MAND and
MANDF; tracks and records the separation of funds in the MAND/MANDF
Money Market account.TIME COMMITMENT AND PAYMENT TERMS:
- Independent Contractor reports to the MAND President.
- Hours are anticipated at 20 hours per week with higher work
effort in the fall and spring, but will not exceed 0.5
FTE/year.
- $45 -$55 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
Payment will be tracked and billed hourly; billable in 15-minute
increments and paid on a monthly basis.
- This is a remote position and requires two visits to the Twin
Cities per year (January board meeting and Spring Annual
Conference) if the candidate does not live in Minnesota or the Twin
Cities (paid by MAND).SEARCH PROCESS:The MAND Search Committee
consists of current and past leaders and the current Executive
Director. Initial interviews are anticipated to begin in the Fall.
To help evaluate critical thinking and communication skills,
finalists will be asked to prepare and deliver a short presentation
based on a topic of their choice. Start date for the successful
candidate is anticipated to be no later than February 28, 2025,
subject to agreement between the candidate and MAND.
