About the Job:
The person in this position will function as part of a senior-level
team that will implement a monitoring, evaluation, and adjustment
(ME&A) program based on the Research and Development (R&D)
Roadmap (CVR) for Broadly Protective Coronavirus Vaccines. To learn

The team will include the CIDRAP director, the CIDRAP deputy
director, and several researchers. This will be a 3-year project
that will include the following high-level activities: (1)
participate in a small steering group that will guide the overall
project; (2) coordinate and participate in a taskforce of global
subject matter experts (SMEs) that will provide regular project
input; (3) conduct ongoing literature reviews, landscape analyses,
and expert interviews organized around the goals and milestones in
the CVR; (4) track progress towards the goals and milestones in the
CVR and vaccine candidates in the R&D pipeline; (5) conduct
extensive literature reviews and develop and maintain an online
reference database of the current literature organized by CVR topic
(e.g., immunology, virology, vaccinology), modeled off CIDRAP's IVR
Resources site: https://ivr.cidrap.umn.edu/resources; (6) develop
and maintain an online database of broadly protective coronavirus
vaccine candidates in preclinical and clinical development (modeled
off CIDRAP's Universal Influenza Vaccine Technology Landscape:
https://ivr.cidrap.umn.edu/universal-influenza-vaccine-technology-landscape);
(7) develop and maintain an online platform tracking funding and
investments toward the CVR goals and milestones (modeled off the
IVR Funding Tracker Dashboard:
https://ivr.cidrap.umn.edu/ivr-funding-tracker-dashboard; (8)
develop and participate in an in-person meeting of SMEs held in
year 2 of the project; (9) participate in a revision of the CVR
roadmap in year 3 to reflect progress towards the roadmap goals and
milestones; and (10) evaluate and disseminate relevant data via
progress reports, publishing results in peer-reviewed scientific
literature, presentations at scientific meetings and conferences,
and other public-facing venues (e.g., media reports).
Duties and Essential Functions:
1. Review and interpret complex scientific literature related to
coronavirus vaccines R&D and track progress towards the goals
and milestones of the CVR. (50% time)
2. Participate in the development and maintenance of databases of
(1) available scientific research and publications (2) candidate
vaccines in the development pipeline, and (3) funding and
investment related to broadly protective coronavirus vaccines. (20%
time)
3. Participate in workgroups of internationally recognized SMEs in
research, manufacturing, and development of coronavirus vaccines
and high-level meetings and consultations related to the project.

4. Develop and present materials to disseminate project results
through scientific meetings, conferences, and peer-reviewed
scientific literature. (10%)
5. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. (5%)
Location
The Research and Innovation Office (RIO) and CIDRAP endorses a
"work with flexibility" approach that offers a welcoming and
flexible work environment where everyone is inspired to do their
best. Work location options include working fully remote, partially
remote, or entirely in the office and are based on the work of the
position. Some on-site work may be necessary for certain positions,
even those designated as fully remote.
This position has been designated as a Profile 2 or 3. Profile 2 is
expected to work on-site more than 50% of the time. Your office
will be located in on the Twin Cities campus (Mayo Building).
Profile 3 is expected to work remotely more than 50% of the time.
Your dedicated office space will be in your remote work location.
Please note that CIDRAP management retains the right to modify
flexible work arrangement agreements on a temporary or permanent
basis for any reason at any time.
If candidate is not from the Twin Cities and is willing to
relocate, CIDRAP may provide a moving allowance. However,
relocation to the Twin Cities is NOT a requirement for employment
consideration.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* PhD or MD with experience in infectious diseases, immunology,
vaccine R&D, public health, or related field.
* At least 2 years of practical, hands-on experience in research in
an academia, industry, or public health practice at the state,
national, or international levels.
* Understanding of public health policy issues and policy
development as related to prevention and control of infectious
diseases.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing: (1) to
produce clear, concise scientific writing; (2) to convey technical
material in a clear and organized to a range of professional
audiences; (3) to synthesize complex information accurately; and
(4) to write content appropriate for professional publication in a
peer-reviewed journal.
* Ability to conduct comprehensive literature reviews and manage
relevant databases.
* Demonstrated ability to exhibit professional interpersonal,
interdisciplinary, and multidisciplinary communication skills, as
evidenced by working on cross-disciplinary teams and with external
partners.
* Ability to complete work accurately and independently.
* Ability to travel several times per year, including
internationally.
Preferred Qualifications:
* In-depth understanding of methods and processes related to
infectious disease research, programs, and/or vaccine R&D.
* Understanding of public health policy as related to prevention
and control of infectious diseases.
* In-depth understanding of virology, immunology, pathogenesis of
infectious diseases, and/or public health.
* 5 years of practical, hands-on experience in research in an
academia, industry, or public health practice.
* Experience working directly with international groups in the
public health arena.
* Documented experience in publications in the peer-reviewed
scientific literature, presentations at scientific conferences,
and/or development of guidelines or committee reports.
